Cinsiyetten

Cinsiyetten is the ablative form of the Turkish noun cinsiyet, meaning gender or sex. In Turkish grammar, the ablative suffix -ten/-den marks origin, source, or separation, and when attached to cinsiyet it yields cinsiyetten, literally “from gender.”

In formal and academic Turkish, cinsiyetten is used to discuss how something relates to or is defined by gender. It commonly appears in phrases such as cinsiyetten bağımsız (independent of gender) or cinsiyetten kaynaklanan (originating from or related to gender). The term is frequent in sociology, gender studies, law, statistics, and policy analysis where gender is a relevant analytical category.

Usage examples include: “Bu analiz, cinsiyetten bağımsız olarak tüm katılımcıları kapsar.” or “Politikalar cinsiyetten bağımsız şekilde uygulanmalıdır.” These constructions illustrate how the ablative form signals an item’s relation to gender as a contextual or methodological factor.

Relation to other forms of cinsiyet: while cinsiyetten denotes origin or basis with respect to gender, other cases such as cinsiyete (to gender) or cinsiyetin (the gender’s) serve different grammatical functions. As a grammatical form, cinsiyetten does not by itself denote a concept beyond its role in modifying phrases that reference gender.
