Chuvashia

Chuvashia, officially the Chuvash Republic, is a federal subject of the Russian Federation, located in the Volga Federal District in European Russia. It lies along the Volga River and is bordered by several other subjects, including Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Mari El, Tatarstan, Ulyanovsk and Mordovia. The capital and largest city is Cheboksary, with Novocheboksarsk among its major urban centers. The republic covers about 18,300 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 1.2 million people. The Chuvash and Russian peoples form the majority, and Chuvash and Russian are official languages.
