Cholestaticus

Cholestaticus is not a recognized medical term. It is possible that "cholestaticus" is a misspelling or a misunderstanding of the medical term "cholestasis." Cholestasis refers to a condition where bile flow from the liver to the small intestine is reduced or blocked. This can lead to a buildup of bile in the liver, which can cause liver damage and jaundice.

Cholestasis can be caused by a variety of factors, including gallstones, inflammation of the bile ducts (cholangitis), certain medications, and liver diseases like primary biliary cholangitis or primary sclerosing cholangitis. Symptoms of cholestasis can include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), dark urine, pale stools, intense itching, abdominal pain, and fatigue.

Diagnosis of cholestasis typically involves blood tests to check liver function and bilirubin levels, as well as imaging studies such as ultrasound, CT scans, or MRI to visualize the bile ducts and identify any blockages. Treatment for cholestasis depends on the underlying cause. If caused by gallstones, surgical removal may be necessary. If caused by inflammation, medications to reduce inflammation might be prescribed. In cases of severe or prolonged cholestasis, liver transplantation may be considered.
