Chodov

Chodov is a district and cadastral area in Prague, Czech Republic. It is located in the southern part of the city and is part of Prague 11. The area is primarily residential, with a mix of panel housing estates and family houses.

Historically, Chodov was a separate village that was gradually incorporated into Prague. The name "Chodov" is believed to derive from the Chods, a medieval border guard people who protected the kingdom's borders. The Chodov Castle, a Baroque manor house, stands as a reminder of this history, though it has been extensively rebuilt over the centuries.

Modern Chodov is characterized by its infrastructure, including the Chodov metro station on Line C, which provides convenient access to the city center. The area also features several parks and green spaces, such as the Chodov Forest, offering recreational opportunities for residents. A large shopping mall, Westfield Chodov, is a significant commercial hub, attracting visitors from across Prague and beyond. The district has a population of approximately 35,000 people.
