Ceramicbonded

Ceramicbonded refers to a method of manufacturing abrasives and refractory materials where abrasive grains or refractory particles are held together by a ceramic binder. This process involves mixing the desired particles with a ceramic powder or a precursor that will form a ceramic upon heating. The mixture is then shaped and fired at high temperatures in a kiln. During firing, the ceramic binder fuses, creating a strong, rigid bond that encases and holds the individual particles.

The resulting ceramicbonded products are known for their high strength, hardness, and thermal stability. This makes them suitable for demanding applications where resistance to heat, wear, and chemical attack is crucial. Examples include grinding wheels, cutting tools, refractory bricks for furnaces, and kiln furniture. The specific type of ceramic used as a binder, such as alumina, zirconia, or silicon carbide, is selected based on the intended application and the required properties. Ceramic bonding offers excellent durability and longevity compared to other bonding methods like resinoid or vitrified, though it can also result in a more brittle material.
