Cellulstructure refers to the structural organization of cells, which is fundamental to their function and behavior. Cells are the basic units of life and can be broadly classified into two types: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells, found in bacteria and archaea, are simpler in structure and lack a true nucleus. They consist of a plasma membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, and a nucleoid region containing genetic material. Eukaryotic cells, found in plants, animals, fungi, and protists, are more complex and have a true nucleus enclosed by a nuclear membrane. They also contain various organelles, such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and lysosomes, which perform specialized functions. The plasma membrane, a phospholipid bilayer, surrounds the cell and regulates the passage of substances in and out. The cytoplasm, a gel-like substance, fills the space between the plasma membrane and the nucleus, and it contains various organelles and molecules necessary for cellular processes. The cytoskeleton, a network of protein filaments, provides structural support and facilitates cellular movement.
