CardenLoyd was a British company renowned for its innovative tankette designs during the interwar period. Founded by Sir John Carden and Vivian Loyd, the company emerged in the late 1920s and quickly became a significant player in the development of light armored fighting vehicles. Their designs were characterized by their small size, speed, and relatively low cost, making them an attractive option for many nations seeking to mechanize their forces.

The most famous of CardenLoyd's creations was the Carden Loyd tankette Mk VI. This versatile vehicle served as the basis for numerous other designs and was exported to several countries, including Poland, where it was license-produced as the TK-3 and TKS. These tankettes were typically armed with machine guns and were intended for reconnaissance, infantry support, and as a cheaper alternative to larger tanks.
