Carbonylföreningar

Carbonylföreningar are organic compounds that contain a carbonyl group, which consists of a carbon atom double-bonded to an oxygen atom. This functional group, C=O, is central to the structure and reactivity of these molecules. The polarity of the C=O bond, with the oxygen atom being more electronegative than the carbon atom, leads to a partial positive charge on the carbon and a partial negative charge on the oxygen. This polarization makes the carbon atom susceptible to nucleophilic attack.

The simplest carbonyl compounds are aldehydes, where the carbonyl carbon is bonded to at least one hydrogen atom. Ketones are carbonyl compounds where the carbonyl carbon is bonded to two other carbon atoms. Beyond these two major classes, carbonyl groups are also found in carboxylic acids, esters, amides, and acid halides, each with unique properties and reactivity due to the presence of other functional groups attached to the carbonyl carbon.
