Cancerfighting is a broad term used to describe the collective efforts to prevent, detect early, treat, and research cancer. It encompasses medical therapies, public health measures, lifestyle interventions, patient advocacy, and scientific investigation.

Prevention and risk reduction include avoiding tobacco, maintaining a healthy weight, regular physical activity, a balanced diet, limiting alcohol intake, vaccination against cancer-associated infections such as HPV and hepatitis B, sun protection, and reducing exposure to known carcinogens where possible.

Early detection and screening aim to identify cancers at an early stage when treatment is more likely to be successful. Programs vary by country and cancer type; common examples include mammography for breast cancer, colonoscopy for colorectal cancer, Pap tests for cervical cancer, and low-dose CT for lung cancer in high-risk individuals.

Treatment approaches depend on cancer type and stage and may involve surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, hormone therapies, or combinations thereof. Advances in molecular profiling and precision medicine are guiding many decisions and enabling individualized treatment plans.

Research and challenges: ongoing work includes biomarker discovery, development of less toxic and more effective therapies, overcoming drug resistance, and improving access to care. Public health funding and reliable information are essential to reducing cancer burden and supporting patients.
