CRDi

CRDi stands for Common Rail Direct Injection. It is a type of modern diesel engine fuel injection system. In a CRDi system, a high-pressure fuel pump delivers fuel to a common rail, which is a pressurized reservoir. This common rail then distributes fuel to each injector. The injectors spray fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder at precisely controlled times and pressures.

This direct injection system allows for significantly higher fuel pressures compared to older diesel injection technologies. The increased pressure leads to finer atomization of the fuel, resulting in more efficient combustion. This efficiency translates to several benefits, including improved fuel economy, reduced emissions, and increased engine power and torque. The electronic control unit (ECU) precisely manages the fuel injection events, allowing for multiple injections per combustion cycle. This precise control further optimizes combustion and reduces noise and vibration.

CRDi technology is widely used in modern diesel-powered vehicles, from small passenger cars to large trucks and industrial machinery. It has become a standard for diesel engines due to its performance and environmental advantages. The system's ability to precisely meter and inject fuel under high pressure is key to its effectiveness.
