CO2fixaatio, often translated as CO2 fixation or carbon fixation, refers to the biological process by which atmospheric carbon dioxide is converted into organic compounds. This is a fundamental process for life on Earth, as it forms the basis of most food webs. Plants, algae, and cyanobacteria are the primary organisms that perform CO2 fixation through photosynthesis. During photosynthesis, these organisms use light energy to transform carbon dioxide and water into glucose, a sugar molecule, and oxygen.
