CEvaatimukset

CEvaatimukset refers to the essential requirements that products must meet to be sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). These requirements are established by European Union directives and regulations, and compliance is demonstrated by affixing the CE marking to the product. The CE marking signifies that the manufacturer has assessed the product and believes it meets all applicable EU health, safety, and environmental protection legislation.

Different product categories have specific directives that outline the CEvaatimukset. For example, toys are subject to the Toy Safety Directive, while electrical equipment falls under the Low Voltage Directive and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive. Manufacturers are responsible for identifying the relevant directives for their product, conducting a conformity assessment, and drawing up a Declaration of Conformity. This process often involves testing by a Notified Body, an independent organization designated by an EU country to assess product conformity.

The CEvaatimukset aim to ensure a high level of protection for consumers and the environment, while also facilitating the free movement of goods within the single market. Products bearing the CE marking can be traded freely between EU member states without further national checks. Non-compliance can lead to product recalls, fines, and market withdrawal.
