CEOS

Ceos, also known as Kea, is an island in the Cyclades group of the Aegean Sea, Greece. The island lies in the central Aegean and is characterized by a mountainous interior, low hills, and a coastline dotted with coves and beaches. The climate is typical of the Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters.

History: Archaeological evidence indicates habitation from the Neolithic period. In antiquity, Ceos participated in Cycladic culture and later formed alliances with larger Greek polities; it minted coins and hosted sanctuaries. The island subsequently came under Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman rule, and became part of the modern Greek state in the 19th century.

Population and governance: Today Ceos is administered as part of Greece's Cyclades region. The island's main settlement is Ioulis (Chora), known for its narrow streets and whitewashed houses; Korissia serves as the principal port.
