CD45Expression
CD45, also known as protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type C (PTPRC), is a transmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatase expressed on the surface of most nucleated hematopoietic cells. It is involved in regulating antigen receptor signaling in lymphocytes and other immune cells. CD45 is found on T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes, granulocytes, and dendritic cells, but not on mature erythrocytes or platelets, reflecting its association with hematopoietic lineages.
The extracellular domain of CD45 contains variable regions generated by alternative splicing of exons A, B,
Functionally, CD45 modulates signaling thresholds by dephosphorylating Src family kinases (such as Lck in T cells
Clinical relevance lies in the diagnostic utility of CD45 patterns in flow cytometry, where aberrant expression
