Bølgeevnene (Danish for the wave abilities) refer to a class of powers in fiction and speculative contexts that enable a person to sense, generate, manipulate, or absorb waves of various kinds. The term encompasses a broad range of phenomena, including water waves, sound waves, electromagnetic waves, and seismic waves. While not a standard scientific term, the concept appears across science fiction, fantasy, and superhero narratives, often with regional variations in how the powers are framed.

In many works, bølgeevnene are subdivided into domains such as hydrokinetics (water waves), acoustokinesis (sound), photokinesis or optokinesis (light and color), and électrokinetics (electromagnetic waves). Some interpretations treat waves as a single unified ability, while others focus on a specific type of wave. Common depicted capabilities include generating and projecting waves as energy blasts, shaping or refracting waves to create barriers or camouflage, absorbing or dampening waves to silence sound or disrupt communication, and using wave phenomena to sense environments, detect motion, or communicate covertly.

Limitations and weaknesses vary with the portrayal but often involve energy costs, physical fatigue, and finite range. External interference, environmental conditions (such as dense media or vacuum), and the presence of strong opposing wave sources can reduce effectiveness.
