Börstillgångar, often translated as "stock market assets" or "securities," refers to financial instruments that can be traded on a stock exchange. These assets represent ownership in a company or a claim on an asset or income stream. The primary characteristic of a börstillgång is its liquidity, meaning it can be bought and sold relatively easily.

The most common type of börstillgång is shares, also known as stocks. When you buy a share, you become a part-owner of the company. The value of shares can fluctuate based on the company's performance, market sentiment, and broader economic conditions. Other types of börstillgångar include bonds, which are essentially loans made to a government or corporation in exchange for regular interest payments and the return of the principal amount at maturity.
