Burzums
Burzums is the collective term used for the musical outputs released under the Norwegian black metal project Burzum, founded in 1991 by Varg Vikernes in Bergen, Norway. The Burzums are associated with the early Norwegian black metal scene and are noted for their sparse, lo-fi production, tremolo-picked guitar work, and a focus on atmosphere over technical prowess. The early studio albums, including the self-titled Burzum (1992) and Hvis lyset tar Oss (1994), helped establish a minimalist, hypnotic aesthetic that influenced many later bands. Throughout the 1990s, the Burzums expanded into darker, ambient, and experimental textures, with Filosofem (1996) frequently cited for its dense soundscapes.
After a long hiatus, Burzum re-emerged in the 2010s with new material, renewing attention to the project
