Budzenia

Budzenia is a Polish noun derived from the verb budzić and used to denote the act or process of waking. In common usage it covers both the physiological act of waking up from sleep and the figurative sense of becoming aware, alert, or inspired. The form budzenia can appear in different grammatical cases, most often as the nominative plural meaning awakenings or as the genitive singular of budzenie.

In physiology, budzenie describes the transition from sleep to wakefulness, driven by brainstem arousal systems and modulated by the hypothalamus, circadian signals, and sensory input. Light exposure is a major cue that promotes budzenie by signaling to the circadian clock and triggering hormonal changes, such as the reduction of melatonin and the rise of cortisol.
