Buborékfúvás, commonly known as bubble blowing in English, is a simple yet engaging activity enjoyed by people of all ages. It involves expelling air through a bubble wand or a similar device coated in a soapy solution, creating iridescent spheres that float and drift. The science behind it involves surface tension. The soap film within the wand forms a thin, elastic membrane. When air is blown into this membrane, it stretches and detaches, forming a bubble.

The visual appeal of bubbles comes from the way light interacts with their thin film. As the film varies slightly in thickness, different wavelengths of light are reflected and refracted, creating the characteristic rainbow colors. This phenomenon is known as thin-film interference. Bubbles are inherently unstable. Gravity and evaporation cause the water in the film to drain and thin, eventually leading to the bubble’s pop.
