Brændstofsystemet

Brændstofsystemet, also known as the fuel system, is a crucial component of an internal combustion engine responsible for delivering fuel to the engine. It encompasses a series of parts that work together to store, transport, and inject fuel into the combustion chambers.

The primary function of the fuel system is to ensure a precise and consistent supply of fuel to the engine, matching the demand for power. This system typically begins with a fuel tank, which stores the gasoline or diesel. From the tank, fuel is drawn by a fuel pump, which then pressurizes it and sends it through fuel lines.

In modern vehicles, a fuel filter is usually integrated into the system to remove any impurities that could clog the fuel injectors or damage engine components. The pressurized fuel then reaches the fuel injectors, which are electronically controlled to spray a fine mist of fuel into the intake manifold or directly into the combustion chamber, depending on the engine type (port injection or direct injection).

The engine control unit (ECU) manages the operation of the fuel system, precisely controlling the amount of fuel injected based on various sensor inputs, such as engine speed, throttle position, and air flow. This precise control is essential for optimal engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emission control. Older vehicles might utilize carburetors to mix fuel and air, but these have largely been replaced by fuel injection systems due to their superior efficiency and control.
