Brunhilda, also spelled Brynhildr or Brunhilde, is a significant figure in Germanic heroic legend. She is most famously depicted in Norse mythology and the German epic poem the Nibelungenlied. In Norse sagas, particularly the Völsunga Saga, she is a valkyrie, a powerful female warrior who chooses who lives and dies in battle.
