Bronkseksis

Bronksebis, also spelled Bronkseksis, is a Lithuanian folk dance. The performance is characterized by men and women forming a boundary between themselves, with the men on one side and the women on the other, and a chain of dancers in the middle.

The participants hold each other's hands, with the outer dancers facing inward. During the performance, the dancers advance in a small step, feet together, and their arms relaxed at their sides. The drummer stands slightly separate from the dancers and is responsible for keeping the rhythm with his drum.

Bronksebis is an important part of Lithuanian folk heritage. The name of the dance is thought to originate from the verb 'bronkti', which means 'to jump', and 'eksis', which refers to 'we are' or 'there is a group'. This indicates that the dance involves a group of people jumping in unison.

The influence of European folk dances can be seen in the traditional dance style of Bronksebis. When compared to other Lithuanian folk dances, it has a number of distinct elements that contribute to its unique appearance and execution.
