British Mauritians are Mauritian citizens of British descent or individuals who have emigrated from Mauritius to the United Kingdom. The historical connection between Mauritius and Britain, stemming from British colonial rule from 1810 to 1968, has fostered a significant demographic and cultural link. During the colonial era, British administrators and settlers established a presence on the island. Following independence, a number of Mauritians of British origin, or those with strong ties to the UK, chose to relocate to Britain, contributing to the Mauritian diaspora there.
Conversely, the term can also refer to individuals within Mauritius who identify with British heritage, often
