Brikette

Brikette is a variant spelling of briquette and may appear as a generic term or as a brand name in different markets. In its broad sense, it denotes a compacted block created by binding and pressing fine particles into a solid form. The most common reference is to briquettes used as fuel for cooking or heating.

Briquettes are produced by collecting suitable raw materials such as charcoal, coal dust, sawdust, peat, or other biomass, grinding or sieving them to a uniform size, blending with a binder (for example starch, molasses, or clay), adding water, and then compressing the mixture into blocks. After molding, the blocks are dried to reduce moisture and increase hardness. Shapes are typically rectangular or square, though round or custom profiles exist for specific appliances.

Uses include grilling, barbecuing, fireplaces, and home heating. Compared with loose fuel, briquettes aim for more predictable burn times, consistent heat output, and reduced smoke or soot. Agricultural residues and waste materials can be repurposed into briquettes, supporting waste-to-energy approaches in some regions. Quality varies by material and binder; improper formation or low-density briquettes can crumble or produce excessive ash.
