Bremszettel

A Bremszettel, sometimes translated as a "braking ticket" or "brake slip," is a document issued in some German-speaking countries, particularly in Austria, in the context of vehicle inspections. It serves as a record of a vehicle's braking performance as measured during a mandatory technical inspection, often referred to as the "Pickerl" in Austria.

The Bremszettel details the results of tests conducted on the vehicle's braking system. These tests typically involve measuring the deceleration achieved on a roller dynamometer. The document will specify the required minimum braking efficiency and compare it to the actual measured values for the front brakes, rear brakes, and the overall braking system. It may also include figures for the braking force distribution between the front and rear axles.

The purpose of the Bremszettel is to ensure that a vehicle's braking system is functioning correctly and meets the legal safety standards. If the measured braking performance falls below the specified limits, the vehicle will not pass the inspection, and the Bremszettel will indicate the failure. The owner is then required to have the braking system repaired before a re-inspection can be performed.
