Brda

Brda, commonly referred to as Goriška Brda in Slovene and Collio in Italian, is a hilly wine region and municipality in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. It lies within the Slovenian Littoral traditional region and is part of the Goriška Statistical Region. The landscape features rolling vineyards, olive groves, and small settlements perched on the hills, with Dobrovo serving as the municipal center. The area is renowned for viticulture and wine tourism, and is home to several celebrated wine villages, including Dobrovo, Medana, and Šmartno.

The Brda region shares a long historical and cultural connection with its Italian neighbor, reflecting the cross-border exchanges that have shaped the Collio area for centuries.
