Bröstet

Bröstet, often referred to as the chest, is a part of the human torso. It is located between the neck and the abdomen, and it encloses and protects vital organs such as the heart and lungs. The skeletal structure of the chest is formed by the rib cage, which consists of the ribs, the sternum (breastbone), and the thoracic vertebrae. This bony framework provides support and protection to the internal organs.

The chest cavity is lined with muscles, including the intercostal muscles, which play a crucial role in breathing by expanding and contracting the rib cage. The diaphragm, a large dome-shaped muscle located at the base of the chest cavity, also contributes significantly to respiration. The skin of the chest varies in texture and hair distribution depending on age, sex, and individual genetics. In females, the breasts are a prominent feature of the chest, containing mammary glands responsible for milk production. In males, the chest typically displays more muscular development and may have a greater amount of hair. The chest is a sensitive area and can be affected by various conditions, ranging from respiratory illnesses to cardiovascular diseases.
