Boyay

Boyay is a small rural municipality in the Veridian region, located on the western plains near the Avar River. The municipality covers about 14 square kilometers and sits at an elevation of roughly 180 meters above sea level. The surrounding landscape consists of farmland interspersed with groves and small woodlands, and the area experiences a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters.

Historically, Boyay developed as an agrarian community in the 19th century, with grain farming and dairy production forming the economic base. It gained municipal status in the late 1800s and has since diversified through light manufacturing and service-oriented enterprises. Local governance is provided by a mayor and a small council elected for four-year terms.

As of 2020, the population was about 3,100 residents. The community is largely descended from long-established farming families, with minority groups contributing cultural diversity. The principal languages are Veridian and regional dialects; education is provided by two primary schools and one secondary school within the municipality.

Economic activity remains centered on agriculture, complemented by small businesses, crafts, and local services. The annual autumn harvest festival serves as a focal point for community life, featuring traditional music and markets. Points of interest include the Riverside Park and the Old Mill, which attract visitors and provide local recreational opportunities.
