Boveda

Boveda is a brand of humidity-control packs designed to regulate the relative humidity inside an enclosed space at a specific target level. These two-way packs are widely used to preserve cigars, cannabis products, musical instruments, and other humidity-sensitive items by maintaining a stable environment without electricity or external equipment.

The packs contain a saturated salt solution sealed in a flexible membrane. When the surrounding air is too dry, the pack releases moisture to raise the humidity toward its set point; when the air is too humid, the pack absorbs moisture to lower it. This self-regulating mechanism allows the pack to maintain a constant target RH as conditions change.

Boveda packs are available in a range of humidity values, such as 58%, 62%, 65%, 72%, and other settings, and come in multiple sizes to fit humidors, storage boxes, bags, or instrument cases. They are designed for easy use: simply place the pack with the items to be preserved and replace it when it no longer regulates humidity effectively. Lifespan depends on pack size, the target RH, and ambient conditions; packs used in well-sealed environments typically last months, with replacement recommended when the pack becomes hardened or no longer maintains the desired humidity.

Safety and disposal: Boveda packs are designed to be non-toxic and non-spillable, but they should not be ingested. If a pack is damaged or punctured, replace it promptly and dispose of the contents according to local guidelines.
