Boucherville

Boucherville is a city in the province of Quebec, Canada. It lies on the south shore of the Saint-Lawrence River, in the Montérégie region, east of Montreal.

The name Boucherville honors Pierre Boucher, a 17th‑century figure who received the seigneurie of Boucherville in the 1660s. The settlement grew from agricultural roots and river-based trade into a modern suburban community.

Geography and parks: The city contains the Îles-de-Boucherville, a group of eight small islands along the St. Lawrence River that lie within its limits. Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville, a provincial park managed by Sépaq, protects the islands and provides opportunities for hiking, cycling, birdwatching and boating.
