Bottenförankring

Bottenförankring, often translated as seabed anchoring or bottom anchoring, refers to the method of securing a vessel, structure, or object to the seabed. This is typically achieved by using heavy objects, specialized anchors, or driven piles that are embedded into the seafloor. The primary purpose of bottenförankring is to prevent unwanted movement caused by currents, waves, wind, or other forces.

In maritime contexts, bottenförankring is essential for holding ships and boats in position, whether at anchor in a harbor or at sea. Various types of anchors exist, differing in design and holding power, and their effectiveness depends on the seabed composition. For larger offshore structures such as oil platforms or wind turbines, more robust forms of bottenförankring are employed. This can involve gravity-based foundations that rely on immense weight, or piled foundations where large steel tubes are driven deep into the seabed to provide a stable connection.
