Botnetit

Botnetit is a term that can refer to a botnet, which is a network of internet-connected devices infected with malware and controlled as a group without the owners' knowledge. These compromised devices, often called "bots" or "zombies," are typically computers, but can also include smartphones, routers, and other IoT devices. The individual or group controlling the botnet is known as the "botmaster."

Botnets are created by exploiting vulnerabilities in software or by tricking users into downloading malicious code. Once infected, the devices can be remotely commanded by the botmaster to perform various malicious activities. These activities can include sending spam emails, launching distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, stealing sensitive information like login credentials and financial data, and distributing further malware.

Law enforcement agencies and cybersecurity professionals work to identify, disrupt, and dismantle botnets to mitigate their harmful effects. The development and use of botnets are illegal in most jurisdictions.
