Boogovens
Boogovens are a class of traditional, large-scale ovens designed for communal baking. They are masonry structures, typically dome-shaped, with thick brick or stone walls and a front or side firebox. Heat is produced by burning wood or peat in the firebox, and the thermal mass of the chamber stores heat for hours after the fire is extinguished. Baked goods are placed on a heated floor or on clay molds, and the door remains closed to maintain even heat.
