Bolotninsky

Bolotninsky is a rural locality and the administrative center of Bolotninsky District in Tula Oblast, Russia. It is located on the Vertyak River, about 110 kilometers (68 miles) northeast of Tula.

Bolotninsky was founded in the 18th century as a settlement of peasants and herders. The village was named after a wetland (boloto) where the village is situated. In 1776, Aerino Tatarziaev, a serf owner, acquired the land from the local landowner and established a fiefdom here, which became known as Bolotnoye. The village served as a administrative center for a large area, and by the late 19th century it was a thriving trading post.

During the 1930s, a rural council (selsoviet) was established in Bolotninsky, which coordinated the activities of several local villages. In 1990s, the village underwent significant changes due to the economic restrictions imposed on Russia. The village's agricultural production declined, and the numbers of rural residents decreased.

Today, Bolotninsky is a village with a range of facilities including a police station, a post office, a school, and several shops. The rural council, which was established in 1930s, continues to play an important role in coordinating the activities of locals.

Bolotninsky is located on the Tula- Odesskaya highway, near the village of Dedilovo, and the village has reliable bus connections to Tula and other local towns. The location and infrastructure make it a geographically significant position within the Russian administrative system.
