Bolayotgan

Bolayotgan is a present participle form used in Uzbek grammar to express actions or states that are ongoing. It is created by adding the suffix -ayotgan to a verb stem, yielding an adjective-like element that denotes continuity or immediacy. As a result, bolayotgan can modify nouns or appear in relative clauses to convey that something is currently happening.

Function and usage: When attached to a noun, bolayotgan identifies the ongoing nature of the associated noun: bolayotgan voqealar means events that are taking place. In relative clauses it marks simultaneity between actions: men bolayotgan ishlar haqida gapiraman, I am talking about the tasks that are currently underway. The form can also be used in broader contexts to describe ongoing processes, such as bolayotgan jarayonlar (ongoing processes).

Morphology and related forms: Bolayotgan belongs to the broader Uzbek present-participle system, which uses suffixes such as -ayotgan, -yotgan, -tgan to express different temporal nuances. The choice among these forms depends on the verb and the intended meaning (ongoing, habitual, completed).
