Bolagsförvärv, often translated as company acquisition or merger and acquisition (M&A), refers to the process where one company purchases another company or a significant portion of its assets. This can take various forms, including the acquisition of all outstanding shares, a portion of shares, or the assets of a target company. The motivation behind such transactions can be diverse, ranging from expanding market share, acquiring new technologies or intellectual property, achieving economies of scale, diversifying product portfolios, or gaining access to new geographical markets.

The process of a bolagsförvärv typically involves several stages. It begins with identifying a potential target company and conducting thorough due diligence to assess its financial health, legal standing, operational capabilities, and market position. Following due diligence, negotiations commence regarding the purchase price and the terms and conditions of the acquisition.
