Bocces

Bocces, also known as bocce ball, is a precision sport that involves tossing or rolling balls toward a smaller target ball called the pallino. The game is played between two players or two teams of two, three, or four players. Players score points by getting their bocce balls closer to the pallino than their opponent's bocce balls.

The game is typically played on a long, rectangular court, although informal games can be played on any flat surface. The bocce balls are usually made of wood, metal, or a dense plastic. There are typically eight bocce balls, four in each color. The pallino is smaller and usually a different color.

The objective is to throw the pallino and then toss the bocce balls to get them as close to the pallino as possible. Players take turns throwing their bocce balls. A player or team scores one point for each of their bocce balls that is closer to the pallino than the closest bocce ball of the opposing team. The first player or team to reach a predetermined score, usually 12 or 15 points, wins the game.

Bocces has ancient origins, with roots in games played in ancient Greece and Rome. It gained significant popularity in Italy and has since spread worldwide. It is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels, often played recreationally in parks and on dedicated bocce courts. Competitive leagues and tournaments also exist.
