Blåseportest, also known as the "blue port test," is a diagnostic procedure used to assess the patency of the pulmonary arteries in newborns. This test is crucial for identifying conditions such as pulmonary atresia, pulmonary stenosis, or other congenital heart defects. The procedure involves applying a blue dye to the newborn's lips and observing the color change in the skin around the lips. If the dye spreads to the cheeks and nose, it indicates that the pulmonary arteries are open and functioning properly. Conversely, if the dye remains localized to the lips, it suggests that the pulmonary arteries are obstructed or closed, which may indicate a serious heart condition.
