BlueSky

BlueSky is a decentralized social network that originated from a project initiated by Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter. The platform aims to provide an alternative to existing social media by emphasizing open protocols and user control. It is built upon the Advanced Text and Signals Protocol (AT Protocol), which is designed to be interoperable and extensible, allowing for various applications and services to be built on top of it.

The project was initially developed by a company called Bluesky PBC. In October 2023, the AT Protocol was officially open-sourced, marking a significant step towards its decentralized vision. Users on BlueSky can create accounts and engage in typical social media activities such as posting updates, following other users, and liking content. A key feature is the ability for users to potentially migrate their identity and social graph to different applications built on the AT Protocol in the future, promoting greater user autonomy.

The platform is currently in a public beta phase. Its development focuses on creating a more resilient and user-centric social media ecosystem, moving away from centralized control structures often found in traditional platforms. The goal is to foster a more open and adaptable social web.
