Blackfield
Blackfield is the name of a music project created in 2001 by Steven Wilson, best known as the founder of the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, and Aviv Geffen, an Israeli singer-songwriter. The duo collaborated under the Blackfield moniker to produce atmospheric, melodic songs that blend elements of dream pop, folk, and art rock. The project released a self-titled debut album in 2004, followed by a second album, Blackfield II, in 2007. A later set of releases, including Welcome to My DNA, appeared in the early 2010s, continuing the collaborative approach and incorporating contributions from various guest musicians. The music has been characterized by intimate vocal performances, spacious production, and themes of longing and personal reflection. The project has remained active intermittently, with new material issued over the years and live performances in different regions.
Blackfield also refers to a geographical location: a village in England. It is used as a toponym
