Bittigas

Bittigas is a town and municipality in the Veridian Highlands of Veridia. It covers an area of approximately 68 square kilometers and had a population of about 11,000 as of 2021.

The area shows evidence of settlement in the medieval period. A town charter was granted in 1623, which established a periodic market and basic local governance. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the economy expanded from agriculture and mining into manufacturing and services.

Geographically, Bittigas sits in a rounded valley surrounded by low hills and is drained by a seasonal river. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cold winters, and rainfall spread fairly evenly through the year.

The contemporary economy centers on agriculture, notably fruit production and dairy, along with small-scale manufacturing and tourism oriented to the historic center and surrounding countryside.

Bittigas has a mayor-council form of government. The municipal council is elected by residents, and a separately elected mayor serves as chief executive. The town is part of the Veridia regional district.

Cultural life centers on the parish church, the public library, and the annual Bittigas Festival, which features traditional music, crafts, and local foods. Education comprises two primary schools and one secondary school.

Transportation access is provided by a regional road network and a neighborhood rail line that connects to larger urban centers. Local buses serve residents and nearby villages.
