Biomimetika

The concept was popularized by Janine Benyus in her 1997 book "Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature."

For instance, the design of airplane wings has been inspired by the shape of bird wings, which are more efficient in flight. Similarly, the development of Velcro was inspired by the hooks on burdock burrs that attach to clothing.
