Biokaasupäästöt
Biokaasupäästöt refer to the emissions released during the production, storage, and utilization of biogas. Biogas is a renewable energy source produced from the anaerobic digestion of organic matter, such as agricultural waste, sewage sludge, and food scraps. While biogas combustion primarily produces carbon dioxide and water, other gases can be released, including methane, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, and its unintentional release, known as fugitive emissions, can significantly reduce the climate benefits of biogas. Hydrogen sulfide contributes to odor problems and can cause corrosion in equipment. Ammonia emissions can contribute to air pollution and eutrophication.
Strategies to mitigate biokaasupäästöt include improving the efficiency of biogas production processes, implementing effective gas collection
