This approach is commonly seen in telecommunications, particularly with mobile phone plans.

One component of the binary billing typically covers the cost of the service itself, such as voice minutes, data usage, or text messages. This part of the bill is usually consumption-based, meaning the price varies depending on how much of the service is used. The other component is often a fixed monthly fee, which may cover things like line rental, network access, or a bundle of included services.

The primary advantage of binary billing for providers is the flexibility it offers in structuring pricing and revenue.
