Binnenventilatie refers to the process of air exchange within buildings. It is essential for maintaining good indoor air quality by removing stale air, pollutants, and moisture, while simultaneously supplying fresh outdoor air. This exchange can occur through natural or mechanical means. Natural ventilation relies on pressure differences caused by wind and temperature variations, allowing air to flow through openings like windows, doors, and cracks. Mechanical ventilation systems, on the other hand, use fans and ductwork to actively control the intake of fresh air and the exhaust of stale air. Hybrid systems combine both natural and mechanical approaches to optimize energy efficiency and comfort. Proper ventilation helps prevent issues such as condensation, mold growth, and the buildup of harmful substances like carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and radon. It plays a crucial role in occupant health, comfort, and the overall well-being within residential, commercial, and public spaces.
