Bilirubiinimäärä refers to the measured level of bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellowish pigment that is produced when red blood cells are broken down. It is processed by the liver and then excreted from the body. Measuring bilirubin levels is a common diagnostic test used to assess liver function and to detect various medical conditions, particularly those affecting the liver, gallbladder, and blood.

There are two main types of bilirubin measured: unconjugated (indirect) bilirubin and conjugated (direct) bilirubin. High levels can indicate a variety of issues, including hepatitis, cirrhosis, gallstones, hemolytic anemia, or certain genetic disorders. Conversely, very low levels of bilirubin are generally not a cause for concern.
