Bialetti

Bialetti is an Italian kitchenware company renowned for coffee-making appliances and other cookware. It was founded in 1919 by Alfonso Bialetti in Omegna, a town in northern Italy, and is best known for its Moka pot, the stove-top espresso maker that helped popularize home coffee brewing.

In 1933, Bialetti introduced the Moka Express, an octagonal aluminum pot designed to brew coffee under steam pressure. Water in the bottom chamber is heated by the stove, creating pressure that forces hot water through ground coffee into a top chamber, producing a rich brew similar to espresso. The eight-sided form became iconic and remains a defining feature of the product.

Over the decades, Bialetti expanded its product range to include other moka pot sizes, as well as stainless steel cookware, kettles, and induction-compatible designs. The company emphasizes functional, durable, and accessible household goods, and maintains production in northern Italy with a global distribution network.

Today, the Bialetti brand remains a prominent name in domestic cookware and coffee accessories. The Moka Express and related models are widely sold worldwide and are often cited as examples of practical industrial design. The company’s products are associated with traditional Italian coffee culture and the postwar period of Italian manufacturing.
