Betonlage

Betonlage is the placement of freshly mixed concrete into prepared formwork and its subsequent consolidation to create structural elements. It includes planning, delivery, placement, compaction, finishing, and curing operations on a construction site.

The process begins with checking formwork and reinforcement and sealing forms to prevent leakage. Concrete is delivered by mixer trucks, pumps, or cranes and transported to the placement area. It is placed into the formwork using chutes, buckets, or pump lines, then consolidated with vibration or tamping to reduce air voids. After initial leveling, a screed brings the surface to the planned level and slope. Finishing work may involve troweling, brushing, or texturing, and control joints are installed to accommodate shrinkage.

Quality control involves ensuring the mix design, slump or workability, air content, and temperature meet specifications. Field tests such as slump tests and compressive strength cylinders verify properties. Proper curing, via moisture retention or curing compounds, helps minimize shrinkage cracks and achieves design strength.

Equipment and materials include ready-mixed concrete, admixtures, pump equipment, portable vibrators, screeds, floats, and finishing tools. Admixtures may adjust workability, setting time, and air content.
