Bensiininsäiliöillä

Bensiininsäiliöillä, often translated as gasoline tanks or fuel tanks, are essential components of internal combustion engine vehicles. Their primary function is to store the fuel, typically gasoline or diesel, that powers the engine. These tanks are designed to be robust and resistant to corrosion, as they are exposed to a variety of environmental conditions and the fuel itself can be corrosive over time.

The construction of bensiininsäiliöillä has evolved significantly. Early vehicles often used metal tanks, typically made of steel or aluminum. Modern vehicles increasingly employ plastic tanks, commonly made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Plastic tanks offer advantages such as lighter weight, greater flexibility in design to accommodate various vehicle shapes, and inherent resistance to rust. Regardless of the material, the tanks are sealed to prevent fuel evaporation and the escape of harmful vapors, contributing to emissions control.

They are typically located in areas of the vehicle that offer some protection in the event of a collision, often towards the rear or under the chassis. Features like rollover valves are incorporated to prevent fuel spillage if the vehicle overturns. The fuel pump, which draws fuel from the tank to the engine, is usually integrated within or mounted to the tank itself.
