BelvárosLipótváros

Belváros-Lipótváros is the administrative district of Budapest, Hungary, located in the Pest side of the city. It is the city's historical center and includes several significant landmarks. The district is bordered by the Danube River to the west and the districts of Terézváros, Erzsébetváros, and Ferencváros.

Historically, the area was divided into two distinct parts. Belváros, meaning "Inner City," was the original medieval fortified settlement. Lipótváros, named after Emperor Leopold II, was developed as an expansion of the city in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, these two areas are combined as a single administrative unit.

Key features of Belváros-Lipótváros include Kossuth Lajos Square, home to the Hungarian Parliament Building. Vörösmarty Square, a central hub, is notable for its statue of the poet Mihály Vörösmarty and is a popular gathering place. St. Stephen's Basilica, the largest church in Budapest, is also located in this district. The Danube Promenade offers scenic views of the Buda Castle and the river.

The district is a major commercial and financial center, housing many government institutions, banks, and corporate offices. It is also a popular destination for tourists, attracting visitors with its historical architecture, cultural sites, and vibrant atmosphere. The area is well-connected by public transport, including metro lines and tram routes.
